XM Radio Online

Um, not really Japan related, but...

While driving around in the States last July, I rented a car with XM Radio; Satellite radio, with no CMs! I loved it.. Well, I just discovered their site has a lot of streaming channels.. Although not all of them..

I've been listening to it all day with the iBook linked to my stereo.. Very clean, no rebuffing, and LOUD!..

Oh! There is a connection to Japan! Albeit verrry small.. A feature artist on The Move channel (80) is Japanese! Satoshi Tomiie..

Haven't listened to it, but MX even has Left and Right talk radio channels... Great! Nothing like separate channels to keep the world separated!

I've mentioned it before, but Samuri.fm is pretty cool, too.. And local: http://www.samurai.fm

Super. I'm listening to it now. I used to like to listen to Yahoo Launch Cast but they downgraded it so if you want good sound you have to pay.

Looks good.. I'll have to give it a listen. What player do you use.. It keeps wanting to use MaCast, but I'd prefer it use a different player..

When I went through through the link I put up on FG it started up on Music Match but when I use 'My Favorites' link it opens in Windows Media Player.

Hhmm? It gives me an m3u file, which wants to use MaCast.. I can't open it with WMP.. I'll give it shot at work tomorrow.

Check the program grid first as some of the programs get well weird. No ads other than station sponsors (live venues, bookshops, etc) but they are generally few and far between. Each program has it's own dj's so it's basically people really into their thing doing what they like.

Japanese content... First station I heard P5. Big promotors Mach Pelican of when they started.

It does seem pretty cool- I hate the commercial radio stations here in Connecticut.

On downer note; The 'samples' online are only 3 hours of pre-recorded tracks.. Not live.. Oh, well.. Nothing's for free..
