Tattoos don't always mean what their wearers think

Postby Steve Bildermann » Sat Apr 10, 2004 2:59 am

Stop by any tattoo shop, and there's a good chance you'll see someone getting a kanji character inked onto his or her skin.

Kanji is one of three different scripts used in the Japanese language; the stylized, exotic look of kanji symbols, which are derived from ancient Chinese characters, just cry out to be turned into hip tattoos.

The problem is that sometimes the tattoos don't mean what their wearers think they mean.

Angelique Starr
What she thinks her tattoo says: "circle seven."
What it really means: The tattoo does read as "circle seven," but in Japanese, "circle" and "yen" use the same symbol. So Starr's tattoo also means "seven yen," or about 5 cents.

So do any of you FG folks have a Japanse Tat and would you care to share (JPG please)

Rather mudane I know but it's the thought that counts.....

Damn! I've never met anyone that cheap before..you'd think that with rates like that, she might as well just give it out for free.
