OMGWTfgBBQ TODAY! Sunday, April 18

Postby Taro Toporific » Fri Apr 16, 2004 11:19 am

OMGWTfgBBQ on Sunday afternoon, 1pm, April 18

Eight confirmed FGs are cuming.

The BBQ is only 14-20 minutes from Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line. The fun will be at the TARO museum Minka-en village open-air museum.
The hike from the Mukugaoka-Yuen station is 1.1km, but if you show up at
1pm I'll give ya a ride the Benz. PM me for my keitai numbers.

Bring your own picnic lunch and favorite liquid refreshments. I will bring BBQ supplies, a mad cow, flu chickens, dead veggies to grill (but we might get busted since nobody has ever thought to try to BBQ at the Taro museum's forest.

The all-important maps again:

----To repeat the earlier invite----
FIELD TRIPPY! FIELD TRIPPY! WTFGBBQ!

Meet the TARO MUSEUM on Sunday afternoon, 1-ish, April 18, 2004 for the unofficial WTFGBBQ!

Cafe patio, gardens, forests, thatch-roofed Japanese village cum open-air museum, BBQ pit, and the modern art craziness of TARO! :P And a surprise guest FG, "Kurohinge1", will be coming all the way from the Real World to visit. Taro will throw bento on the barbie as well as mad cows, sick chickens, cholera hogs and dead veggies but no natto ice cream.

Oh, it's such a shame you relaxing on the tropical island just taking easy rather than running around like us rodents here in the Land-o-Concrete. We'll have quite few toasts to you. :P

I plan pictures and a fun video of all of us getting arrested for starting a BBQ bonfire in the museum's woods next to the 500 year old thatch-roof houses.

Thank you, Taro-san, I'm very much looking forward to meeting those who can make it. Do I need a tatoo to ride in benz in Japan?

Damn! Sorry. You walked right past us somehow.
We waited at the station till 1:38pm and then drove up to the park. The picnic was at the pond and fountain next to the steam locomotive, small planetarium at the bottom of the stairs and path to the Taro museum.
RIGHT BEFORE HERE in your photos  Image

Mrs Taro would let set a thatched-roof farm house on fire and we brought the food pre-cooked. BBQ Chicken, nachos, beer and fiberglass insulation were consumed in Mass Quanties.

No way!.. I know EXACTLY where you talking!! I even walked around the locomotive!
Taro Toporific wrote:The picnic was at the pond and fountain next to the steam locomotive,

OMFG! I drank my fourth beer while sitting and watching that EXACT fountain!!!!

Actually, I didn't show up till almost 3:30.. And I also didn't notify anyone I was going.. I thought it would've been easy to spot the FG T's..

Well.. I had a good time, nonetheless.. It's a really nice place! Thanks, Taro!..

Thanks Taro

Postby kurohinge1 » Sun Apr 18, 2004 10:46 pm

Taro-san, domo arigatou.

Not only were we treated to a ride in the famous red Benz, but a marvellous spread of food including the last edible chicken in Japan

I also enjoyed that game where we hid from GuyJean everytime he wandered past ... Oh - was I not supposed to mention that ??? Just kidding - sorry I missed meeting you GuyJean but it was great to meet the others who came and thanks again to Taro & Mrs Taro for organising it and rounding us up at the station.

All the best and hope to meet up again in the future.

Gomen...

Postby GomiGirl » Mon Apr 19, 2004 3:12 pm

Taro... On Sunday I needed a "mental health day" and was unable to make it out to the BBQ..

I think that the alcohol consumed with gomichild and the j-ster the night before had something to do with it but I can't be certain!!

I am really sorry - I was looking forward to going but the last few months of working like a crazy person caught up with me and I needed to hibernate for the day.
