Japan stops imports of Samsung PDP screens

Japan today suspended imports of Samsung SDI's plasma display panel (PDP) screens in a patent row between the South Korean firm and its Japanese rival Fujitsu, Samsung officials said.

"We have learned that the decision on a temporary import ban of our products was made yesterday and took effect today," Samsung SDI spokesman Park Kyong-Min said.

The move followed lawsuits by Japanese technology giant Fujitsu Ltd against Samsung SDI over its alleged patent infringement on basic technologies for plasma display panels
