Ahhhh, a blast-from-the-past. Jorn's robotwisdom blog which hasn't been up dated since last fall. Here's a great picture of Jakob Nielsen's enema nurse, Jorn Jorn Butt Barger, from the same image file.

Alien/Handicapped Sakura in Korea

Postby Taro Toporific » Tue Apr 20, 2004 10:52 pm

The REAL Question is: "IS SAKURA A HANDICAP IN KOREA OR ARE SEATS RESERVED FOR ALIENS IN KOREA?!"

Can't say for sure as I never ride that line. If I'm ever passing through Yeongdongpo it's on two wheels. :D

Also: WHY IS THIS TRAIN AN EXACT COPY OF JAPAN?

Is it? There are quite a few different interiors on the carriages here (seats, bars, handholds, etc.). All of them are far lower-tech than their Japanese counterparts. (Think of all the flashy stuff on the Yamanote Line - none o' that here.)

On the trains I rode in Seoul, the cars were noticeably wider than the norm in Tokyo.

Compared to the lines like the Ginza, yes, the Seoul trains are larger. They're about the same size as the Yamanote cars though.

It looks EXACTLY like the all the Yamanote Line in the 80s and early 90s. The trim, advertising placement, bars, handholds, "Silver Seat" for the old and handicapped are the same. All that "flashy stuff" is quite new which you think is "normal" is actually very new. The JR local trains out in the boondocks still look like this. Could it be <horror> that the Koreans are buying the used <shock> rolling stock from the JR <shame>?

Quite true. I thought it was Japanese until someone pointed out that it was Korean. Up in Tohoku the trains still look like that.
