For the last 40 years Yokota has been surrounded by aerospace companies just outside the gate, positioning themselves for the coming takeover...

He should be able to do that easily. As soon as he takes over the golf course. :)

Yokota

Postby Pixle101 » Mon Apr 26, 2004 2:39 am

This is funny. They think that an air force base that is almost too small to take care of its own people is going to let the gov turn them into an airport? The most I see is a costly move of Yokota on the Japanese GOV expense. I am stationed at Kunsan AB South Korea and we have almost the same thing. But we only share the runway not the entire base. This could work and the US Air Force shares runways with airports at a lot of bases. But I have to wonder what is the 4 stages. I just came from Yokota on vacation and it is a really really small base. Unless he convinces the US gov to tear down family housing, there is no way he can make Yokata a military and civilian air port.
No matter how hard you try you will never understand asians until asians understand themselve's.

He just wants the U.S. out of there. I'm sure he'll be handing it over to ASDF after kicking out the civilian airlines.

Gov. Blinky has been saying this for years with no action.
If he wants an airport close to Tokyo why doesn't he take Tachikawa Airbase from the JASDF? It is practically next to Yokota.

What? Like Haneda's not close enough to Tokyo? After flying into Haneda on my last two trips, I can't imagine dealing with the Narita mess again.

Yeah, I know. But if you're lucky enough to have the choice, Haneda is a no-brainer.
