The Darkness

What is your take on this band? I think they are wicked. Rather odd, but no doubt rocker material.. with a mix of this and that.

I heard them on Kiss FM on the morning commute. I have heard them before but this morning they played "I believe in a thing called Love" which totally jazzed up my day.. from the normal humdrum radio conversations that are blasting in the mornings.

theres a chance we can make it now
we'll be lookin till the sun goes down
i believe in a thing called love

you got me in a spin but everything is a ok

touching you, touching me
touching you cause you're touching me
i believe in a thing called love, just listen to the rythm of my heart
theres a chance we can make it now
we'll be lookin till the sun goes down

It's almost like a Queen cover band who broke out on their own. The singer is sooo much like Eddie Mercury it's eerie. The Guitar riffs and the guitar and a lot alike. The melodic tone is very Queenish. All that said, no one wants to be known as the band who reminds you of another band. So the second album will tell all.

Street Named After The Darkness

The Darkness are to have a street named after them in their hometown.

Councillors in Lowestoft, Norfolk, want to honour Justin Hawkins and his band for their recent worldwide success.

"I have suggested that we name a road after them because three of the band, including Justin, are from Lowestoft," Waveney District Councillor Wendy Mawer explained. "I don't think Darkness Close would be very popular but I am keen on Hawkins Close or Hawkins Way. Their agent has told us they would be absolutely honoured."

Councillor Mawer continued: "I feel that we should do something to celebrate their success. The band has always loudly proclaimed that they come from Lowestoft. We are trying to regenerate the area and anything that adds to this has to be positive. They are icons for young people, especially in this area."

In other Darkness news, 13 gigs on the band's current US tour have moved to larger venues to accommodate bigger crowds.

Sorry to bring up such an old thread but I didn't know where else to put this. I guess here is best because on the subject of British bands.

You guys heard of Keane yet?? I really chilled out piano 3 piece band. Their really good. Absolutely nothing like the darkness (everybody is sick of them over here. They are a right bunch of twats anyway, check their interviews if you dont believe me).

Sounds good. Definitely different from The Darkness. Something to add to the old music box.
:D

Thanks for the link.
