Now here's a keitai that is guaranteed to get lost.

NTT DoCoMo develops world's smallest Internet-capable cellphoneTOKYO (AFP) May 11, 2004Japan's top mobile phone service provider NTT DoCoMo Corp. on Tuesday unveiled what it claims to be the world's smallest Internet-capable cellphone. The "premini" handset, actually manufactured by Japanese-Swedish joint venture Sony Ericsson, is 9.0 centimetres (3.6 inches) long, 3.9 centimetres wide and 1.9 centimetres thick....

See the Flash-infested DoCoMo site for more info about the premini.

NTT DoCoMo develops... develops??? WTF???

NTT DoCoMo develops NOTHING.. they dictate to the H/W manufacturers the H/W and S/W features what will be in the next model. They also tell them when they need to deliver this to market - co-incidence that all the FOMA 900 series handsets hit the market at the same time?? I think NOT.

That said - it is a neat little unit. But it is about the same size as the ones that I am working on at present - just a wee bit smaller.

Can't see any specs though.. ie what OS? I assume it would be UIQ Symbian OS. What browser? I doubt it will be open to allow third party apps. there are some awesome Symbian apps out there.. 8)

No info 'cause T.I.J.

DoCoMo's Flash-infested website for the "premini" handset is insanely reader hostile, ain't it?

Hi G.G. 8)

I was at the Tokyo Business Show on Tues. when they announced that new micro-mini Premini & just in time for summer too..!!!
Thought you'd like this link for a detailed description via Ketai Watch]http://k-tai.impress.co.jp/cda/article/news_toppage/18786.html[/url]

I did shoot a little bit of video at the DoCoMo booth but sorry to say that the Ladies in Red over at Vodafones booth were very distracting..!!

Summer Handset Parade - New Mobile Phones on Video
Wireless Watch Japan, May 12, 2004
The Tokyo Business Show 2004 opened yesterday with a light show and pounding music that highlighted Vodafone on center stage. They have taken a beating in the marketplace - and the press - lately over the lack of new handsets, but here are 5 fresh for summer models that should make the critics, and customers, take notice. The V602SH from Sharp would seem to be pick of the litter with its industry first 2x optical zoom camera and huge swivel style LCD screen. The sleeper surprise unit, upon closer inspection, has to be the V401D from Mitsubishi. With it's Super CCD Honeycom 2 mega-pixel camera, and another industry first, a side mounted finger tracing control feature to operate screen scrolling and camera zoom..!!! We were in for another treat afterwards wandering by the DoCoMo booth to see they had just rolled-out the new micro-mini Premini by Sony Ericsson. If you couldn't make it out to Tokyo Big Sight in person then we hope you'll enjoy this quick video clip from our adventure. Full Program Run-time 2:37 - Coded for Broadband Connections Only.

Awesome Vid!! Are a lot of those prototypes? Or being introduced soon?..

The slide-zoom control is funky... Doesn't seem necessary, aside from being 'cool'..

Great job!

Thanx dude.. I guess it doesn't totally suck for next day turn-around and a totally solo effort too boot..!!! All of the units in the clip are coming out over the next 6-8 weeks (ya the 401D slider is a pretty cool feature), however there was a quick peek of some prototypes 'behind the glass' that are just going through design & development now. I thought that those wallet style ones would be a killer cool form for next wave.. G.G. whaddya think..?!?

Haha.. Yuko-chan is the cute girl in this .jpg image with the story.. 8)
She was totally cool - very genki - and spoke pretty good english too boot. I really gotta spend more time hanging out at Gomi-Girls office in Harajuku since thats the same building where the 'talent agency' is set-up to screen and hire these kind of booth babes..!!!

Oops.. F*rk thats right, almost totally forgot I'm already married to a real beauty. Guess living in Japan for long enough would turn any F.G into a regular Oyagi.. "One Cups for All My Friends.." lets go for a spin on the Yamanote-sen..!!!

GG's office..

Postby GomiGirl » Thu May 13, 2004 5:22 pm

Yep I see them all the time in the elevator.. My office is on the third floor and the talent agency are on floors 2 and 4 which means the lift is busy all day..

But I mainly see office staff and not the auditions.
