Schoolgirl escapes Okinawa abductor

One of my daughter's classmates had some guy chase her with a knife after she refused repeatedly to "accept his offer" to go with him. she ran for about a block or so (with the sick-o running after her) until she bumped into an obaatarian who promptly scared the guy (in his 20s) away. later on the police in their infinite wisdom initiated an afternoon patrol program....with the patrols being carried out by mothers who belonged to the PTA (no police back-up) 
They did get to wear those nifty plastic PTA armbands though! the program lasted from February (when this happened) until march. the police never did get this guy (what else is new),
