What kind of music do you like?

Gaspanic is OK and drinks are Y400 on Thursdays.
For regular dance and if its Roppongi you had in mind: I recommend Happy hour ( 6-8 ) at Paddy Foleys for some cheap boozing and friendly peoples and Club 911 across the road from there.

some once told me that the name Gaspanic is derived from the Aum Sarin Subway Attack - however, apparently the place has been around since prior to that event.

anyone know the score?

Mainly like hip-hop and dance but we'll probably be drunk enough to dance to any old thang. Would be nice to see some other gaijins, but only fucked ones please, not the kind that make you ashamed to be foreign, know what I mean.

Where is cooler than cool? Not too bothered about prices. Prefer somewhere all night cos our last train is at 11pm so we'll be up all night).

C'mon guys, you gotta know more than Gaspanic..... 8)

More Tokyo club recommendations

Postby djgizmoe » Tue Jun 01, 2004 9:50 pm

If you're into club jazz, check out Aoi Heya and Organ Bar in Shibuya. Aoi Heya especially is a little slice of retro-Shibuya-kei worth checking out (on Roppongi-dori between Shibuya Station and Roppongi Hills) and also has some pretty far out avante-garde and electronica events. Also, if you like house or underground stuff, YELLOW in Nishi-Azabu is pretty good, but they don't seem to have the cool upstairs bar they used to...

Funky cool!.. Never been, but looks interesting..

Yellow has gone downhill, IMO.. Dance floor is too small, dark, and low-ceilinged..

Try Vanilla if you like Yellow:
http://www.cyberjapan.tv/contents/tokyoclubguide/roppongi/vanilla_e.html
Same age group (young), bigger rooms, cheaper drinks, more dance floors... A little too spacious of not many people are there... (Never thought I'd being saying that.. I'm turning Japanese!... 8O )

I think there was a pretty cool place (Muse?) past Roppongi Hills coming away from Roppongi Crossing.
That was months ago and the memory of its kinda blurry - anyone know where im talking about / been there recently?

AIR in Daikanyama is a pretty good venue as is Yellow metioned above but in the end it depends who's on.

Have had good nights at WOMB in Shibuya but more because of the music than the venue.

Before you go out do a bit of pot luck and have some quiet ones around Golden Gai in Shinjuku. At least you don't have to worry about some prick taking your drink everytime you set it down.

Golden Gai is a 10/15 minute walk from Shinjuku JR Station. It's the area between Hanazono Jinja and the road with the ward office (Kuyakusho dori)
If you are standing on the corner of Yasukuni Dori and Kuyakusho dori, you are virtually there and you can ask.
It consists of about 5 parallel lanes of bars in a tiny area. Most will levy a 500/600 cover charge per head which can limit bar-hopping if your budget is tight. Krishna is a good place to kick off because the staff are younger there and can tell you about other places. Its easy to keep going until lunch around here but mainly through bars, not clubs. Wire is OK if you like psychobilly and that is right next to Hanazono Jinja.
If you want something a bit different, try GuyJean's Dept H suggestion. That is quite cheap and there are a bunch of clubs nearby for a taste of Shibuya.

Roppongi has a bunch of Irish/British pubs as well as some longstanding FG hang-outs like Mogumbos, Castillo, Geronimo's, 999. Mostly no cover charges. A lot of people, especially finance types, have moved to Heartland Bar which sells Kirin Heartland beer for 500 yen a bottle. It's up on Roppongi Dori at the foot of Roppongi Hills.

Muse is on Nishi Azabu Crossing. if you are facing the ice cream shop "Hobsons", which is on the corner, turn to your left and walk down the road and you will see Muse about 10/15 yards on the right. On the other side of the road opposite you should see an AM/PM convenience store. This isn't too bad for a good mix because there are quite a few rooms to check out. For better clubs, though, look at GuyJean's links.

You'll see more FGs in Shibuya and Roppongi than Shinjuku

I can't believe no one has mentioned Xanadu in Shibuya. Friday nights are the best there, but Saturdays are fun too. Various types of FG's are in there, some tranny types, and generally approachable J-types.

From Shibuya-eki, walk towards the 109 building, take the right fork in the road and keep walking until you see Don Quixote on your left. Walk a little farther, and you will see the sign for Xanadu (it's on the B1 level).

XXXanadu--oh yeah. Me 'n Mr. Pongi did an all nighter there once. Good times.... 8)

GJ...Depato H? Now can that really be considered a dance club?
If you walk around and go upstairs, you'll--shall we say--see "things".
Ah hell, you'll see things everywhere around there. 8O

I like Sugar High if it's not too crowded. Is that place still around? Cozy and friendly types in BooYa.

I agree.. But, gone.. It's moved and called Ruby Room now.. Very nice, but small. Good location. Up the same street, take first right, walk, see. Smack in the middle of Love Hotel Hill:
