Hey Devicenull,

What's going on in Beijing?

The Chinese women are the best! Hang out at Starbucks and you'll find out what I mean.

You look like a wai guo ren but you also look like a gaijin. You can't win when you are an f'd gaijin.

I gotta say those squishy "remembering" foam pillows and mattresses they sell at Seiyu look good - anyone ever use them?

I tried one of the pillows last summer. It was a bit too firm, and retained way too much heat. I woke up with a sweaty head and a sore neck. Not sure how the mattress pads are.

Yep, Caustic is right; they're waaaaay too hot for summer use.
(I've used them in orthopaedic rehab settings.)

Is this the same material that was designed by NASA?
The wife uses one of those and swears by it. She now wants to buy a bed made of the same material.

I like the hard bed on the floor as it is better for the back but way too cold to sleep that close to the floor in winter...

[quote="Taro Toporific"]Yep, Caustic is right]

my throat feels nasty if i leave the air-con on all night (nowhere near it to put a bowl of water)
so i guess once it gets too hot for me; ill have to resort to sleeping in the bath covered in crushed-ice

but wait! theres an alternative!

anyone get this for themselves or for their pets?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the miracle of all miracle pillows: the sobakawa! As my poor relative found out, they could never fall asleep since everytime they rolled around in bed, Crunch!!

I used one of those last year when I stayed at a ryokan. I thought it was great, and the crunchiness didn't keep me awake at all.

No good for me. Allergic to the dust that pumps out of them. Found out the hard way with an asthma attack.
Straight back into the cupboard.

LOL, how wrong i was... they are NOT mattresses. it seems to be something in the line of more plywood, but with a mattress-like covering. they gave us like a heavy blanket to use as a mattress.... well, that's what im using mine for. the floor is a little more soft otherwise.
