TOKYO -- The skeletal remains of a man found June 1 in an apartment in Tokyo's Ikebukuro district are apparently those of a man who died there alone 20 years ago...the man used to work at a Tokyo-based construction company that owned the apartment...the man, then 57, suddenly stopped going to his office about 20 years ago. He had a wife and children but his relatives had apparently never asked the police to search for him.

But I walk down the same street every day. There has been a motobike in the same place and untouched for the last four years. It did have some vines growing through the spokes of the wheel but the local council gardeners have been very considerate and trimmed them away when they have pruned the hedges. But I often wonder if the owner of the bike has abandoned it or has died...

Fancy getting to the stage in which not even your family members think to search for you if you suddenly stop turning up....

I remember hearing or reading about this old guy living alone and used an old-fashion kettle-type element to heat his bathwater..

the old geezer gets in the bath with the element still turned on and then slips into the tub or maybe has a heart attack after climbing in..

8 weeks later: neighbours notice somethings odd (might have newspapers piling up at the door?)

emergency services enter the house and making their way through the attrocious smell, find his thouroughly boiled corpse in the tub - when they eventually attempt to moved the body..
the cooked flesh merely slids off the bone; leaving them with the task of scooping him out, bit-by-bit, with a shovel
