SURPRISE: Abuse not reported in schools

This is like saying that priests should be reporting more child molesting. Sheesh.

Hard to say if a report could worsen everything if authorities don't take the necessary steps or dont have enough proves.

i'm so glad that students here are allowed to punch back if a teachers hits you. So that problem is solved forever ;_;

Teachers get abused by kids a thousand times more than kids get abused. The kids do anything they want and the teachers can't suspend them or remove them from class or discipline them at all. A lot of these kids need a few damn good kicks to the backside. They're wild animals and need to be tamed.

And reporting child abuse is a lot more difficult than you might think because it's almost impossible to know what's going at home. Social workers and teachers don't know what they're doing in the states so why open that can of worms here? We end up in a situation where kids rule, the education system crumbles and the prisons fill.

Yeah, gotta agree with Ass, here. When I was on JET, there was one junior high in my city that was literally out of control. Teachers were assaulted in the staff room EVERYDAY, bathrooms were vandalized EVERYDAY, teachers had to roam the halls looking for naughty kids, so the smarter naughty kids all piled into the teachers' room and went crazy, jumping up and down on the desks, making out on top of cabinets...A lot of the kids sniffed paint behind the buildings (and gave each other 'yankii' style hair cuts there too) and wore bosozoku clothes instead of uniforms. The parents were all chinpira, so they were no help, and the police, on the few occasions they were called, did all of jack shite. It took one female teacher to get seriously injured and me showing the BOE head a bunch of pics I took there to get things changed even a little. The principal got 'retired' and a lot of teachers (some who were seriously having nervous breakdowns) got shuffled randomly to other schools...Still when the whole point of 'gimu-kyoiku' is to insure that kids stay in school, there's a huge loophole that bad kids can exploit, namely, you cannot be expelled or disciplined for any misbehavior as long as you attend class.

It's a shame when teachers don't report abuse. It's an even bigger shame when teachers let other teachers abuse kids. And it's really fucked when you can't give a kid a good paddling when they deserve it.
