A quick note to all who might be requesting invites - don't ask for it to be sent to a Yahoo or Hotmail account.

Hotmail bounces Gmail invitations

Blog crap

Yeah, I found a lot of that when I dug deeper into the threads on Slashdot. Too lazy to go back and edit, though. :D

Null was kind enough to send to my GOL account and, while it ended up in spam, it was easy to spot. I think Yahoo have done the same with their filters but, with their new policy, spam isn't a capacity problem any more...

BTW, Thanks Null.

Will Gmail support International Languages

My wife has a Hotmail account that is defaulted to Japanese. She got tired of Outlook acting weird and sometimes not converting the incoming message correctly or when she would send a e-mail and the receiver getting junk characters.

So I set her up a Hotmail account and she now has no issues getting or sending Japanese e-mail. Well I was able to score her a Gmail account last week and after we got it setup we went looking for language options

Yes.

Although the Gmail interface is written in US English, Gmail users can send and receive messages in a variety of languages.

Right now it is only possible to search in English. All information listed in the 'Account Settings' portion of your settings, including your name, must be entered in English.

If you can't read or send messages in a particular language, let us know by clicking on the 'contact us' link below.

Though, I can't really get my japanese emails to show up proper either..

Meaning, you only registered to ask for a Gmail invite. If there were another reason, surely you'd be posting in other topics, right? :D

Conspiracy theorists ATTENTION....

Are Hotmail And Yahoo! Blocking Gmail Invites?

 http://www.webpronews.com/news/ebusinessnews/wpn-45-20040621AreHotmailandYahooBlockingGmailInvites.html

Joel Johnson created a buzz by reporting that some Gmail invites and emails aren't getting through to Hotmail users. Several reports also claim the emails aren't getting through Yahoo! Mail filters.

Have you noticed any problems sending Gmail invites? Share your experiences at WebProWorld.

Paul Thurrett of WinnetMag reports Hotmail, which is owned by Microsoft, plans to increase its email storage to compete with the 1 Gigabite of space Google offers through its new Gmail service.

"Hotmail [may] be blocking the Gmail invitations," Johnson, editor of Gizmodo, announced after a Gmail invite he'd attempted to send to a Hotmail account bounced.

Dang so that explains why NO INVITES FOR STEVE...... ( I feel so left out)

Geez, usually when I send an e-mail to a hotmail user and it bounces, it generally means that the user's account, so perilously close to the limit, got clogged up with spam and they went over their free 10MB limit.

My invite came over yahoo just fine. I have to say I've been happy with yahoo's service but this might be better. At first I didn't have any invites but now they've decided they 'trust' me and I have five left. If you want one pm with your email. I haven't read this whole thread actually sorry if this is old news but I read in TIME magazine that gmail has a built in advertisment system that works like this: If you write the word camera in your email little ads for cameras will appear in your message. However, your address isn't sent out to be spammed.

not IN your message, alongside the message screen. Just like when you search on google, the paid ads appear in the right hand side of the screen, not IN your search results.
