Station worker shot in Shibuya station on Hanzomon line.

Postby Bongo » Wed Jun 23, 2004 12:28 pm

Subway Worker Shot, Seriously Injured, at Shibuya Station

It seems a railway employee was citically injured after being shot in the stomach on the Hanzomon line platform in Shibuya this morning for no apparent reason.
Cops are undertaking a major manhunt in Shibuya right now.

*** PLEASE make an effort to find a link to an actual story when posting news stories. ***

As I said, there were no links when I posted this!
So, how do I post a link?
Suppose I could wait till a website reports it but then, it would not be news now would it?

Thanks for editing my post!

Subway Worker Shot, Seriously Injured, at Shibuya Station
http://asia.news.yahoo.com/040623/kyodo/d83cekj01.html
The assailant, who fled the scene, is believed to be in his 50s and about 160 centimeters tall. He wore a white shirt, light brown trousers and sunglasses, according to the police.

The police said they believe only one shot was fired. They are searching for the assailant on suspicion of attempted murder.

According to Tokyo Metro, the subway operator, Nishioka was on his way back to the station office after completing his overnight shift. His duties on Wednesday morning included manning the platforms and the ticket gates.

Nishioka was shot near the No. 9 exit of Shibuya Station, which serves the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line and the Tokyu Denentoshi Line run by Tokyu Corp.

I propose a new rule: no posting of "news flashes" unless there is a credible news source on the subject to link to.

Without such a link, it sounds like pure conjecture or rumor-mongering.

Naaah.. I've had a couple 'breaking' posts that the Japanese 'yes-monkeys' hadn't reported yet.. THE PLAYPEN OF DEATH! being one of them..

I say let people post whatever. Just consider who the poster, if you're worried about 'rumors'. No need for another one of FG's rules..

GomiChild, GomiGirl and I post earthquake news off the "crawl" of NHK TV all the time.

This "Station worker shot" has zero follow-up in the pavid press.
No "Who" did the shooting. A yakuza?
No "How" was the shooting done. A zip gun?
No "Why" did the shooting happen. A love triangle with Koizumi?

Subway worker shot, seriously injured, at Shibuya Station
TOKYO June 23 Kyodo - A subway station employee was shot in the abdomen and seriously wounded by a man at Tokyo's Shibuya Station during Wednesday's morning rush hour, the police said.
Shigeo Nishioka, 32, remains conscious and the injuries to the right-hand side of his abdomen are not life-threatening, the police said.

OK, OK, my previous proposed rule plus the caveat that if you personally witnessed it/know someone who was actually there/have some other way of verifying it, you can post on it (as in Guyjean's case).

I hereby declare this the "anti-Bongo rule" (not to be confused with the "anti-Pongi law") :D
