WOTS Japan's rank of the "Beavers Scale"?

Postby Taro Toporific » Fri Jun 25, 2004 9:07 am

When the Other Woman or Man understands better
The Straits Times / 25 June , Singapore - - -
....Subservience is no longer accepted among Asian wives. Popular culture, even in Japan, parodies such subservience - most notoriously in the image of the devoted Japanese mother who bathes the baby, cooks dinner for the family, feeds the children, and then keels over and dies even as her husband wolfs down his meal, oblivious.
...... psychiatrist W. Robert Beavers' method of gauging the health and competence of families. Called the Beavers Scale, it grades families on a scale of one to five, with one being 'optimal' - that is, a happy family whose members mutually respect and care for each other - and five being 'severely disturbed', that is, a family in total chaos.

 'Optimal' beavers are cool. But unfortunately, I think I've dated some 'serverely distrubed' beavers.

Oh, THAT Beavers scale...I was confused there for a minute.

In my wife's family the men are the quiet, subservient ones, and things work out pretty smoothly. Why argue when you can go outside, smoke a cigarette, have a beer and cut up the fish you caught the morning before?
There is nothing more noble than impassioned nonsense.

In My Family, I am the man of the house. My wife makes the small decisions like what to buy, which school is right for the kids, where to rent a house etc. I take the big decisions like the foreign policy, talks with Korea etc. etc.
Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms should be the name of a store, not a government agency.

Hhhhhmmm.. Possibly a new title; 'Squirting Beavers' has a nice ring to it.. Of course, we all know those are few and far between. But oh so fulfilling.
