Are Their Jobs For Those With Lyrical Talent In English?

I'm new to Japan. I currently teach English in Tokyo. Was wondering if I could get a job rapping. Is there any demand whatsoever for rappers here? I mean rapping in English.

Hey prohomeless, could you give us a little taste of your 'Lyrical Talent'? Just type out a few of your rhymes for us. I'm pretty fresh myself, if you're up for an online M.C. battle.

Pro, of course English rappers can work here. But just like in the states, it's easier to get work if you are part of a local 'crew'. I'd find a local DJ that will let you rap over a few tracks during his/her set, and go from there, I guess. Gonna need to get your spoken Japanese 'skills' up to par, though...

Yep, I have a Japanese friend who is part of a crew that performs underground hip hop at clubs around Tokyo. He's really good, but gets little exposure because he's an independent performer. But they all rap in Japanese with a little bit of English thrown in for effect. Can you do the same thing?

Never ask other people if you can do something. If there isn't a clearly laid out path all you ever get is negative responses, it's sort of human response.
If eminem never got discovered and found himself in Japan (in Tokyo, I wouldn't give him much chance in the rest of Japan) he could make a living. On the other hand hip hop is all about lyrics, so if they can't understand what you are saying it will be tough, you'll have to get by on coolness.
