Man beats dog collar-bound mom to death in storeroom
FUKUOKA -- A man who tied a dog collar around his mother's neck and dragged her into a storeroom where he unleashed a fatal beating on her has been charged over her death, public prosecutors said.
The man, Hidenori Mizukoshi, 36, of Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, was charged with injury resulting in death and illegal confinement.
According to the charges against him, Misukoshi kicked and slapped his 62-year-old mother in the face several times at about 11 p.m. on May 20.
On the afternoon of May 22, he attached a nylon dog collar to his mother's neck and led her to a storeroom next to their home, then padlocked the collar to a chain, and started beating her, the charges said.
His mother was taken to a hospital after the beating, but she died on the afternoon of May 29 due to acute brain damage.
When questioned over the beating, Mizukoshi reportedly said he had been trying to teach his mother a lesson.
"She had taken out a lot of loans, and I was intending to punish her," he was quoted as saying. (Mainichi Shimbun, Japan, July 2, 2004)
