My wife asked me a couple days ago if I wanted to go to Sanda to a music concert.. I, being of sound mind, asked her what kind, and she told me it was a Japanese language concert, and that the music was nice. I told her I'd think about it, as it really sounded like the kind of music I am into..
So skip forward to today and we decide to go. We head out about noonish and drive all the way there. We get to Sanda but my wife kind of gets lost in the area (a car navi would be nice, maybe one day)... Anyway we find the parking area but it's full with a notice for us to park at the local department store parking lot. We make it there then trot back to the concert hall. We're now 10 minutes late to the concert.
They won't let us in so as not to disturb the performance. We wait about 5 minutes and hear some clapping, the door swing open and we are ushered in... low and behold, there's no empty seats in the place, standing room only.. all this for some amateur performances. So we slide around the back of the hall, and stand against the wall.
Well the music was nice, opera type sing songs.. I'm getting drousy about 25 minutes into it. Each singer sang about 2-5 songs and then they'd bring out another singer along with piano accompaniment. Well I start getting a bit bored after hearing the same old same old. So I start gandering around at the audience. I noticed one little girl sitting in front of me who kept twirling around to do the gaijin gawk... I snickered at her and she stopped.
Then, and this is what I am getting at, I see this odd woman who looks to be in her late 30s sitting. She is bone thin and has the complexion of a polar bear's penis. She also has on this oversized watch, like had to be one of those rubber Gshock watches. It is a pastel pink looking watch, that she just glances at every 9-30 seconds. Why do I say 9 to 30 seconds? Because I timed her. Every few seconds she'd take a gander at her pretty pastel pink watch. Despite the fact that the concert hall had a digital clock in full view of the audience, she still preferred her pretty pink watch.
I kept watching her check her watch and just like a dog trained to sit on command she's checking the time. And I also noticed that she also had some sort of nervous twitch, cause every 5-10 minutes she'd shiver and then turn around either to the left or right at random.. She was one odd chick.
It got to be rather funny, so I decide to let my wife in on my observation. I said to her, take a look at the pretty pink watch lady.. and so my wife did.. And everytime pretty pink watch lady took a gander I'd nudge my wife. She, all the while tried to hold back a laugh. It was hilarious.. Seeing this woman obsessively looking at her watch, all the while the concert was going on..

Just my odd occurrence of the week.
