Japan takes fresh aim at whales
By Andrew Darby, The Age, Australia
July 17, 2004

One of the world's hardest fought conservation campaigns, the moratorium on commercial whaling, is facing its strongest challenge yet.

Plans by the chairman of the International Whaling Commission lay out steps for a return to regulated whaling as early as 2006.

Japan is increasing pressure to overturn the ban. Its recruitment of small nations has reached the point where whalers may command more than half the votes inside the commission at its meeting in Sorrento, Italy, next week.
Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups.

Will the real whale numbers 14 and 15, please stand up....

Postby Greji » Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:06 pm

Mystery of Japan's fin whale catch
".....DNA research on whale meat samples collected online, in markets and specialty stores in Japan led Scott Baker of Oregon State University to find genetic markers from a total of 15 fin whales.

However, Japanese whalers have reported killing only 13 fins in the Antarctic since it started hunting them again in 2006.

None has been reported taken around Japan as bycatch and fin whale meat imported recently from Iceland is said to be still held by customs....."

Now for a profound statemet:

"....."Something's fishy," said Naoko Funahashi, a director of the International Fund for Animal Welfare, which sponsored the study....."
Entire article here.....

Sorry, it's all a big misunderstanding.

When they were asked "How many Fins did you kill in the Antarctic?", they thought they were talking about Finlanders, in which case the number was correct - all by accident, of course - mostly protestors and a couple of scientists.

But if it's "Fin whales" you're talking about, well then, yes, the number's much higher, but you'll never actually know how many.

Are they serving the Fins as well? That could be the reason there's a foul up on the DNA results...

There is already no scientific ground for continuing moratorium of commercial whaling. IWC should lift the riduculous moronic fanatic moratorium as soon as possible. If so, Japan need not to whaling in the name of "scientific research" any more and hypocrite anti-whale morons(in reality hidden hardcore racists) lose one of their political cards to bully Japan in the name of "environmental protection". bitches

Takechan, let's say they lift it...you gonna dine day in day out on whale? Should you reproduce, would you feed the stuff to your kids?

Does it make sense to kill an animal who poses no threat to you or your livestock, and the consumption of which is potentially damaging to your health?
So racist of me, huh?

Oh what a sad little planet you live on... if it is not the Koreans, it is the Chinese, if not them the Australians? Is there any country that is safe from your myopic and inaccurate stereotypes?

If you hate foreigners so much, why do you hang out here so much?

Anti-whaler's sneak methods
1)Fanatic groundless sensationalism by using world-wide Anglo-Saxon information network while avoiding from direct discussions based on objective facts with pro-whaling side.
2)Tripping up Japan by denying scientific research as a fake despite them well knowing its nominality due to IWC's moratorium.
3)Straining unrelated issues with hindsight as the reasons human should not hunt and eat whale.

In the first place, fuckin anti-whalers should concede Japan to lift the damn moratorium of commercial whaling. Because originally anti-whalers complicated this problem by bringing out perverted creepy unrelated "religious" creeds. Secondly Japan should drop the haul of whaling to match real domestic demand and should not have children and pregnant women eat whale meats because of its high content of mercury. Moreover, Japan should continuing whaling not to destruct the whole ocean ecosystem within the limits of real domestic demand.

And it's OK.

I approve of all whale hunting.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

BTW, looks like the Japanese don't eat whale wiener, judging from the text written on the slicer...
