Crazed surgeon amputates patient's penis, chops it up

BUCHAREST (AFP) - A Romanian surgeon who underwent a fit of madness while operating on a man's testicles proceeded to amputate his penis and cut it into three pieces.


The surgeon, Naum Ciomu, was said to be a senior member of the hospital staff and a professor of anatomy.


He had been operating on a 34-year-old man for a testicular malformation when he committed the act, hospital officials said Friday.


"We are shocked by what has happened. It is the first time we have had such a case," said Sorin Oprescu, head of the Bucharest emergency hospital where the operation took place.


Doctor Ciomu had been banned from entering an operating theatre for two months pending the results of an investigation by the medical council, Oprescu said.


Meanwhile the wife of the unfortunate patient said she was suing Dr. Ciomu.

I guess some guys just aren't meant to have a normal package.

chicken's neck, cut it off and his dog rushed up and ate it, the state
Rompres news agency said Monday.



It said 67 year-old Constantin Mocanu, from a village near the
southeastern town of Galati, rushed out into his yard in his underwear
to kill a noisy chicken keeping him awake at night.


"I confused it with the chicken's neck," Mocanu, who was admitted to
the emergency hospital in Galati, was quoted as saying. "I cut it ...

Doctors said the man, who was brought in by an ambulance bleeding

A 32-year-old Czech tried to commit suicide by cutting his throat with a chainsaw but survived after the machine missed his jugular artery and got stuck in his spine, a report said today.

This was his second suicide attempt, CTK news agency reported. He had earlier tried to hang himself from a tree branch but the branch snapped and he broke both legs in the fall, it said.

The man was taken to a Prague hospital and was recovering in an intensive care unit, hospital officials said.

Family problems were the likely reason for his suicide attempts, CTK reported. His first suicide attempt came after his wife threatened to divorce him and take their daughter with her.

Doctors in Romania are treating a 28-year-old whose penis exploded while he was making love to his girlfriend.

Ilarie Coroiu was taken to hospital in the Transylvanian town of Cluj after his girlfriend, Magdalena, 18, "felt something strange" and noticed that the bed was covered in blood.

Dr Angela Domocos, head of the accident and emergency department at Cluj General Hospital, said: "It is very rare for this to happen. We call it an exploded penis because it happens when the blood cavities in the penis burst.

Mr Coroiu is now recovering after an operation to stop the bleeding.
