Bah, watches are good for telling time, having them do other things went out of style when the 80s ended.

If you're looking to spend a chunk of change, I recall that Citizen watches have some cool features that don't appear on the European luxury models (I forget what they are, though). I believe that Japanese watches are known for their features, but European watches are known for their fashionability. Go into any "Watch-kan" or major electronics store in Shinjuku and ask about the features on their Japanese-brand watches (Citizen, Seiko, Casio, etc.) My take is that I don't think the Japanese watches are that impressive for business purposes, but for casual wear, the Japanese brands are a good alternative.
