That's cause those bastards encrypted everything...

...at least for an extra $200 I can turn my PS/2 into a Linux or FreeBSD computer. With X-Box I get a PC in an ugly case that doesn't give me any future expansion capabilities (unless someone figures a way around Microsoft's encryption schemes).
