Perhaps fast theorems and calculations done by panicked passengers at the last moment before a car crash. Now personally I would pray but others may find comfort in say the Sieve of Eratosthenes to produce a quick sereies of prime numbers.

My guess is that he's a remedial math teacher:

He's probably brought in to help with trouble students or something.

Honestly, if you were a math hotshot, would you teach at a high school?
