....The Guinness Book Of World Records celebrated its 100 millionth copy with a big bash in London on Tuesday and a new pocket-sized book - The Best Gross World Records....Most Worms Removed From a Human Stomach
A 58-year-old woman from Shizuoka, Japan, was admitted to Isogaki Gastro-Entero-Surgical clinic in May 1990. She complained of severe gastric pain and nausea brought on by eating raw fish. Doctors discovered 56 white, thread-like worms in her stomach and later removed them during a 90-minute operation. The worms were identified as the larvae of Anisakis simplex and measured up to 17.27mm in length....

WOT? The Parasitological Museum is not gross, it's "romantic" according to their website...

The Wonderful World of Parasites The Meguro Parasitological Museum that exhibits only human and animal parasites in the world...The building is far smaller than the British Museum though, admission fee is free same as the British Museum.
...On weekend many visitors, not only parasite-lovers but 'lovers', come and watch charming and pretty parasites.
...You also can findmany beautiful panels each providing a life cycle of the representative parasites. I am sure you realize how wonderful the parasite's world is.
....This wormis 8-m long. You can really imagine the worm length by using the string which is the same size as the worm. There are so many lovers to take a picture in front of the worm for their memory.

Those people who visit the museum either have nothing better to do or they're absolutely barmy. I wouldn't go if you paid me!

I just talked to my bartender. She has a stomach ailment holding over from a visit she made to Japan two years ago!

The museum sounds absolutely fab. Makes one think there are grosser and even more over the top museums in the Big T.

Two seriously injured in explosion at sardine museum near TokyoKyodo

An explosion at a sardine museum near Tokyo on Friday severely injured two people and blew a large hole through the roof, police said.
The blast in the coastal town of Kujukuri, about 65 kilometers (40 miles) east of Tokyo, occurred just before opening time....
A 63-year-old male worker suffered burns over large parts of his body, and a 66-year-old female employee was found unconscious and covered by rubble and debris. Firefighters dug her out.
The two were hospitalized, but their conditions were unknown. The cause of the blast was under investigation.
The Sardine Museum's exhibits include a sardine fishing boat and large fish tanks containing the fish. Kujukuri is a traditional sardine fishing town.

Does the Salt and Tobacco museum still exist in Shibuya? I went there once. It was.......interesting.

Sure! Cheapest cup of coffee in Shibuya but "Due to partial renovation, the Tobacco & Salt Museum will be temporally closed on September 1st, 2004."
