I'm Sinister

Postby Steve Bildermann » Sat Jul 06, 2002 12:48 am

Along with Beethoven, Aristotle, Isaac Newton, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Mark Twain, HG wells and Churchill. Plus former US Presidents Ford, Reagan, Bush and Clinton.

Yes I'm left handed and damn proud of it. 8)

Are you left handed? If you are you know that living in this right handed world can sometimes be frustrating. Doors open the "wrong way" the keyboard is setup with the number pad on the 'wrong' side. If you look at your monitor you'll probably notice the controls are on the right side.

Most of the time we adapt and some say we are better for it. For example when a left handed writes with a pen, the moving hand covers up what has been written so therefore we are forced to think ahead in terms of the complete sentence rather than constantly reading what we have just written.

Anyhow if you are left handed you might want to try out this LEFT HANDED CURSOR I made. It's a cursor that points from left to right. You will be surprised how natural it feels after all this time using the regular windows right to left cursor.

I am sinister as well. However, several things have made me suspect that I was actually born right handed, and misdiagnosed as a southpaw in elementary school. For one, I throw frisbees and play the trumpet with my right hand, and my handwriting (with my left) is awful, no matter how much time I spend. Also, my right arm has always been stronger, it tires slower when I am weightlifting, and when I am swimming competitively, as I did between the ages of 8 and 19, I have to correct myself or I will veer to the left. I also wear a watch on my left wrist and I can switch hit with some success. Whatever, I guess I'll never know the truth about that.

Oh Absolutely.

Did you know that along with just about everything else in Japan you can get ranked according to your insanity? :D

The rankings go from 5th Kyu to 1st Kyu in increasing steps of mental disorder. The coveted 1st Kyu means you are 100% mentally incapable and require constant attention. This usually means inpatient supervision.

I was recently demoted (or is it promoted) to 2nd Kyu. After years of martial arts training in which I had risen to lofty titles, this drop in rank from 1st kyu to 2nd kyu had been rather hard to rationalize. :(

I'm bumping this thread as August 15th will be LEFT HAND day.

Recently I added a BLACK left hand cursor to the download file. See below.

Excellent, I am very left handed. I also write English vertically (like a lot of lefties who were forced to write on those little half desks in school).

When the Japanese see me doing my contortions and writing Kanji virtually upside down it freaks them out.

That looks so natural. Does it look weird to right-handed people?

I handwrite with my right, play bass left-handed, and swap sides with my mouse when one wrist gets too tired.

Cool cursor idea though!

I'll be celebrating something else on August 15 though...

I'm a bit like Crispy, my right hand is stronger (throwing, scissors, opening bottles), but the left does the fiddly stuff better (writing). Used to be a right-hand mouse user, now a left-hand touchpad user.

Might have come from the dark ages in my first year of school where my teacher put a cross on my left hand and stuck a star on the right. Pretty easy even for a five year old to figure out you could quite easily cover the cross on the left with the star from the right. If she was stricter I might be ambidextrous (my grandfather was, but then he got caned for using his natural hand).

:D :D :D LOL

Not exactly something you can congratulate anyone on is it. :(

'Oh well done old boy, you got 1st kyu. Now you are completely fucked up'

'Oh No I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing'

PS - since my last 'vacation' I'm back up to 1st kyu.

Dang. Me too!
In baseball, I bat right or left. In archery, I am only a lefty. In wrestling, judo, etc. I'm 100% ambidextrous and switch to confuse opponents. My handwriting is right handed and my part on my hair WAS on the right (left handed).

I think the proper Nikko monkeys would be the Nikko Sarugundan ones. They're very cute.

I mean that in an ungay way.
