Geographic limits to FG

Postby Socratesabroad » Thu Aug 05, 2004 1:33 am

Sorry to bring this up, but this topic arose in a thread elsewhere.

Simply put, quite a few FGs like myself are not in Japan at the moment. Most of our posts (well, most of mine at least) do deal with Japan, but some may occasionally stray from dealing strictly with Japan. Would that straying be a problem when posting here?

Mind you, while I am not in Japan at the immediate moment, my links with Japan still remain, like the companies that provide me with PT translation work, my bank account, my Japanese software, OSes, and PCs, and a few friends (sadly, the number of my foreign friends still in Japan began dwindling after the five-year mark). And of course, my visa and re-entry permits are still good (at least till '06), so I may end up in Japan again, but who knows?

If others feel that FG should be a Japan-only forum, I'll be more than happy to respect that. Then again, I'd be even happier if a few tangents would also be tolerated.

I look forward to your comments.

I personally feel that China-related threads can be cool if they offer something interesting to the general readership of FG, but they always run the risk of not matching the theme of the forum. Of course, as ultra said, you can post them in Gaijin Ghetto. But I tend to throw them in Beyond F*ed if they devolve into a narcissistic personal blog about some dude's study abroad experiences.

Kamome, more than fair enough.
