Two from http://www.bento.com
Inakaya (Roppongi - Robatayaki). 3405-9866.
Japanese country-style dining raised to an artform. Dinner around Y10,000 per person.
Roppongi 4-10-11, Yamaki Bldg. 1F. (near former Self-Defense HQ) Open 5-10:30pm (LO) daily.
Daigomi (Marunouchi - Robatayaki). 5219-7011.
Top-grade robatayaki in festive surroundings, for that expense-account splurge.
Marunouchi 2-4-1, Marunouchi Bldg. 5F. Open 11am-2, 5-11pm (LO) daily.

If your guests are new to Tokyo then Inakaya is an event as much as a meal. But your fellow guests are likely to be foreigners too which can give the place a "fake Japan" feel. And, if you hit the menu hard, the bill can easily climb to 15,000 per head. There is another, larger, branch across the car park from the Hard Rock Cafe.
For Kushiage, Kushinobu is a popular chain. The best one is in Ginza but they have a branch in Roppongi Hills too.
This Robatayaki is also fairly famous although tiny.
Robata
1-3-8 Yurakucho
Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo
Tel: +81-3 3591-1905
Hours: 5:30-11 p.m. daily except Sundays
Traditional-style Japanese bar, opened in Taisho era (early 20th century). Delicious Japanese home cooking and original tasty dishes from the chef.

Mind you, none of these restaurants make it into the Tokyo ZAGAT survey

Thanks 4 that info.

Question is how can you afford it?? They have an expense account but... I dont think they can splurge 2 that extent :(

BTW: is there a Robata Yaki that you have to go through a little small door? Like real old traditional Japanese style?
I went to one in Osaka like that but have yet to see in Tokyo...

I agree that even 10,000 is a bit mad. Most of the customers are expense account junkies. But, then again, eating out in London these days is every bit as pricey.
I can't remember what the entrance is like but Omatsuya (Ginza 6-5-8. Open 5-9:30pm (LO; 8:30 Sat.). Closed Sundays. Tel: 3571-7053 - Sumibiyaki) in Ginza goes for a "country" feel. You can get a decent sized 6,500 course there (and a cheaper 5,000 on Saturday). Tokyo Walker reckon you go cheaper still and eat there for around 4,500 a head.
Site HERE. Generally, you'll get better deals in izakaya or yakitori restaurants. And better still if you get out of Roppongi. You can get pretty cheap sushi at Midori Zushi. Their main restaurants are in Umegaoka but they have one in Shibuya Mark City and another in Ginza. Queues are common.
High-quality sushi at remarkably reasonable prices, especially for this neighborhood. There's often a bit of a wait to be seated, though.
Ginza 7-108, Ginza Korida-dori 1F. Open 11am-2, 5-9:30pm (LO) daily. Tel: 5568-1212. : Open Sundays

If your Japanese is up to it check Gurunavi for coupons for cheaper deals. They do have an English site HERE. You can also get coupons from there too but the range of restaurants covered is smaller than the Japanese site. For instance, a kushiage restaurant in Ginza (again) is offering 10% off the bill, 20% if you arrive after 9:00pm or 1000 yen off one of their course menus. But only through the Japanese link.
Kushiage Dining Bar Coupon
Nagayamon, an old-style izakaya in Shibuya (advertised as 0 minutes from the station) will give you 20% off their course if you are 4 or more.
Nagayamon
If you are in Shibuya, Fukuchan is a good deal. Their main shop is tatami mat only and can be cramped but you can get seats across the road in their second shop.
Fukuchan review HERE
Fukuchan is a special kind of sashimiya. It serves enormous amounts of good sashimi at a very decent price, but the rules of the game are:
1) No booking
2) 90 minutes to eat, then you must go.
3) All orders other than rice and beer must be made at the beginning.
4) The place is almost always mobbed. Patience is accordingly a must.
5) This is not a place where you go alone. Since the servings are truly huge, go with a very minimum of three friends, or you will not be able to eat more than two or three things.
The owner is used to seeing white faces, but the menu is exclusively in Japanese.

The same reviewer recommends oden restaurant Nado Wado in Roppongi if you want to avoid the usual Roppongi feel.
