Gyaku Nanpaya for real?

Postby torasan » Tue Aug 17, 2004 2:01 pm

Gyaku Nanpaya, establishments set up exclusively for women to come in and select men waiting for them in little booths, have started to flourish in Tokyo entertainment districts. Anyone ever visited there? Do they allow gaijin to enter?

Men pay entry fees? Do women pay anything at all?

It's a new kind of dating service, licensed, legal, above ground.

"Women take a look at a guy's profile and, if they like what they see, they go into a small room and meet him. Gyaku Nanpaya are most appealing because they let you actually see and talk to the women before deciding whether to do anything.

Then, if there's a mutual liking displayed, you're both free to do whatever you like, so it's a lot safer than meeting up with somebody you first came in contact with online."

Entrance requires presentation of some form of ID, a 5,000 yen registration charge and payment of 4,000 yen per hour for use of a room.

MALE customers fill out a profile listing their name (nicknames are fine), their reason for coming to the Gyaku Nanpaya and a description of their ideal type of woman.

Club walls are adorned with dozens of resumes from men ranging in age from their 20s to their 50s and diverse professions.

The more "complex" the mizushobai interaction, the more sleazeshop will want to reject gaijin. Walk-in telephone clubs hate gaijin and Gyaku Nanpaya would be stricker, right Marvin?
