This movie looks cool. A bit like an old bruce lee movie.

I think the actor is Toni Ja. I just hope it is going to released with english subs, there are some other FG`s in it. So who knows... Any Ideas.

Resident Evil/ Biohazzard Apocalypse looks pretty shit hot too.

No stuntmen, no wire action, no slo-mo or fast action etc etc. This is the guy's first film but it could also be his last if he keeps that work ethic going.

It's his first film as a an actor, he's been a stunt double for a while now (most notably to Robin Shou in Mortal Combat II).

Unfortunately, there's alot of slow mo in the film (unless the Japanese version cut that out). This was Thailand's top grossing blockbuster film in 2003.

Here's a french film site with lots of downloads from the DVD extra, as well as from the "Making of Ong-Bak" ("Ong-Bak" is the Thai title of the movie)

I saw this movie recently. Had to deal with Japanese subtitles, but not much of a problem. F-ing incredible fight scenes. Some ok humor too. The stunts were amazing--like when the guy jumped through a tiny suspended hoop while running at full speed and coming out feet first on the other side, still running at full speed.

I'm just finally glad Thai Martial arts is getting a bit more exposure. There are already plans on making a sequel

Do you practice Muay Thai? I once sat front row at Ratchadamnoen stadium and watch these guys beat the crap out of each other. And I got to pose with a fighter for a picture.

Btw, Steve B., a martial artist himself, has gone on record at FG to say that judo is better than Muay Thai for hand-to-hand street combat. What do you think?

Yeah, I do. Which fighter did you get to pose with?

oh...the age old question. If you're talking about ring rules Muay Thai, then yeah, sure since most of the throws, palm strikes, force over backwards clinch techniques, nasty spiking and striking blows, and Ling Lom joint and limb locks are excluded. But you'd hardly expect a Thai Boxer to use ring rules in a street fight, eh?

I have no idea who I posed with. I don't think he was a famous fighter, or else I wouldn't have gotten close to him.

Damn, if so much is excluded from ring rules Muay Thai, I guess I didn't see much of the real technique exhibited in the ring.
