keep it down, A K

Postby khusam » Fri Sep 03, 2004 6:06 pm

A K, you know, and I know that YDs is brilliant. Well organized, easy to use, and full of useful info. Great stories, too. People who`ll offer a place to stay to other YDs who they haven`t even met.

So, um, shut up already.

This forum is great too, for different tyes of discussions. And people.

I don't visit YD too much (for some reason, my internet security software pops up 4/5 alerts on every page - cue virus jokes) but I've often turned up there when I've been doing a search. They have some good information and I think the regulars there would get pretty bored if it was all knob-jokes and nothing else. I get more news from here and more informed views than the ones I find on Japan Today, which I also go to for news. The online world would be pretty dull if we didn't have a variety of sites; like having only one bar in town to go to.

Thanks for your radio brodcast on 8-13. I just happened to be listening to the radio - it was really good, the best! Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was depressed but the show cheered me up, so thank you. Please come and (perform?) for us soon. I'm waiting for that but until then "ganbarimasu"

I didn't spend much time on it so I could be off.

CS, You better check the site logs if you can.

I think someone has hijacked AKs account. cuz he's a bit trollish lately.

As far as YDs go, I never heard of it until AK mentioned it. Checked it out. But Its like a high school cafeteria during lunchtime over there.

Here it's like an Amsterdam coffee shop with a sex shop in the back.

Level of sophistication difference is uncalculateable.

And what have they got against ROB PONGI?

That's a bunch of BULLSHIT. What posts in particular have been trollish?

Recently, I made the Pongi skit idea thread, updated the FG book circle and posted some NJR stuff on beyond fucked. I think it's stupid to dis other boards so I made a thread pointing out some of the good points on Young Dudes. Hardly trollish. I haven't flamed or trolled at all. I do think it's trollish to accuse a good poster of being trollish, however.

Actually, I'm sorry I said that. AK's right, you shouldn't put down other forums, regardless. It's just that Kawama never has a nice thing to say about Rob. Sometimes people say downright mean things, that I can't appreciate at all. Rob does not seem to mind, but he's my buddy and I do mind.

With Kawama it's just a grand misunderstanding over Rob hyper-promoting about his latest videos on that site while never offering any other advice/commentary, which I'm sure has the power to annoy. Holding grudges is not healthy, so I hope he and the other naysayers just drop it. Nothin' but name calling and that ain't productive.

Here's my rant in trying to bring these fellas over to the PONGI way of life.

That is, laugh a little at life in Japan. You'll feel much better! :D

Rob Pongi F O R E V E R !!!!

OK

Sparkle, man you are a loyal friend! You got Tolstoy on their ass over there. BTW, defending YD doesn't mean I approve of the anti Pongi attitude but I'm glad Pongi is an FG man cause he doesn't just link to things others made like a news story. He makes new things on his own site and then links to them, obviously that takes a lot more effort. Pongi's good relationship with FG clearly strengthens this site.

Another YD Guy wrote:Thats the difference between RP/FG and YD. In YD, contributions are expected, if not financial then in actual written contributions on the forum in the form of entertaining essays. On YD you have the majority of posters taking the time to write thoughtful replies to topics. On the otherhand, FG is characterized by diffident replies and 'atta boy' style one-liners that we have seen here since the influx of FG posters. Has anyone on FG helped another FG in real life? YD's have got each other jobs, provided places to stay, contributed money to get the founder of YD back to Japan (and he will pay back by contributing the essays we love to read), found mutually beneficial business opportunities together, met up and drink togther, and taking care of the YD's that got too drunk, made close friendships, ad infinitum.

It just goes to show that a lot of the regs at both sites make snap judgements of the other. One thing I don't get though is why Pongi's skit where he reads personals from J-Girls with broken English offends them so much. Well, It's funny to see GG and OA other FG's coming in for a post at YD. I don't know, is crossover good or bad?
