Anime Fans Gather, Loudly and Proudly Obsessed
Mr. Schiopu was just one of several thousand anime fans who showed up, dressed up and zoned out during the weekend's Big Apple Anime Fest 2002, an event that coincided with the city's first major anime convention, the Anime Expo New York, across the street at the Marriott Marquis. Together, the two events made for a near-perfect weekend for aficionados of anime, Japanese animation, and all the giant-eyed, large-breasted and gun-slinging cartoon creations that medium includes.
