Yes, it's KERNEL32, and I'm assuming you're using Windows 95/98/ME. Can you give me some more details about what you are doing when it crashes? Usually this is related to a bad device driver, or less frequently, a piece of hardware failing in the computer.

The trouble with ME (the whole Windows 9X series) is that problems in the application can really cause the system to collapse in a hurry.

Anyways, on that close dialog, there should be a DETAILS button... can you press it and tell me what error code you see? Do you know how to take a screen shot in Windows ME? You select the window and press ALT-PRINTSCREEN. You can also download Snag-it to do the screen capture.

Mac OS X still pisses all over windoze anyday.... I used to be a Novel 5 (Win NT) administrator, then came to Japan, met my first Mac and thought that I had a died and gone to heaven... wouldn't go back if you paid me!!

Amen to that... I moved to Mac programming for my main work after OS 10.0 hit the streets two years ago... Apple's a bit slow with the documentation, but the source code speaks for itself.

Seriously, I love hearing BSD fanboys tout their OS... the interface may be nice, but the lack of decent threading or asynchronous I/O is painful.

Sorry Tim... off topic. Yes, XP is the best Windows-based OS you can get... but make sure your computer AT LEAST meets the recommended hardware requirements before you try installing it. What kind of computer do you have?

I need more to go on... can you right-click on "My Computer" and choose properties... the "General" tab should say what speed processor you have.

Windows XP needs at least a 400mhz machine with 256MB to run comfortably... if your application needs are light, then you can get by with less, but it wouldn't be a fun experience.
