[/url]-- More than $3 million of taxpayer money has been spent luring New Zealand teachers back from overseas and getting foreign teachers to come here.
The number of teachers taking up the offer of a lump-sum payment to teach in New Zealand schools has increased dramatically, with 459 foreign teachers receiving the $3000 grant during the past financial year....Most came back from England, Japan or Australia.
The relocation grant scheme was introduced several years ago to try to counter a teacher shortage in schools.
