Animated Film Craze is Cue for New Fund

Japan's first anime (animated film) investment fund has been launched, giving retail investors the change to profit from turning the lust and gore of a manga comic book into a film.
The Y240m ($2.2m) fund will finance the animation of Basilisk,a ninja tale categorised as a "maniac" manga for its lurid content, and give investors a return based on DVD sales of the film.
Online broker Rakuten Securities in collaboration with production company Gonzo is setting up the fund as the securities industry's latest attempt to encourage Japanese savers to make riskier investments.
