Not a song but a band.

UFO or Die

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=music-artist&field-artist=UFO%252520Or%252520Die/103-3078981-0688603

Shit, I thought this album was considered a Japanoise classic right alongside Boredom's Pop Tatari but there's not an image nor a single review on Amazon. Gizmoe, what gives? Mr. Eye was in the band and it was basically the Boredoms just with a different name I think. Why isn't it more popular?

The band Die You Bastard recorded an eponymous song.

Off thread: I've only just heard that Shena Ringo had her mole removed.

Don't ask me why UFO or DIE is underappreciated. You're right Ass, it's as (in)famous as Pop Tatari for long time fans, but it seems to have been swept under the rug. Still available at small record stores throughout Japan, I think, and through Skin Graft records direct.

As for the Shena Ringo mole incident, this is how I understand it. Last year she was going through an "identitiy thing", meaning I suppose she got tired of fans fetishizing her mole, and decided to remove it. After she had it zapped off, she wore a "prosthetic mole" (good name for a punk band, that) for awhile, until she had her public, mole-free unveiling at the end of her Budokan concert (see the "Electric Mole" DVD). On the "Ringo no Uta" CD, there are also two videos where her mole appears and than is gone by the end of the clip...

I love that little nutcase, and I hope her activity with Tokyo Jihen is as fruitful and short-lived as UA's collaboration in AJICO.

Ya-Ms. Ringo's epic Karuki Zamen Kuri No Hana album ended with a song concerning death, the amazing Souretsu. She in turn stopped the solo act, and removed her mole to represent this change, and soon started with a new band. Tokyo Jihen, as they are called, just released their first single (quite good, by the way, specially for fans of Shiina's older hard-rock side), with another to come next month, culminating in their first full-album in November. Can't wait.
