Hmmm... I thought a school's job is to educate, not enforce their nationalistic views on the students.

Not from what I understand. It seems the role of the school is not only to educate, but to enforce any bizarre and outdated rule that they can find. That is why I am very happy to be teaching at a Kosen, where happily, teachers look the other way when students change their hair color, or pierce their ears, or decide not to wear their uniforms. The strange thing is, the students still learn. And I would venture to guess, they do better than their fellow students forced to abide by these assanine(sp) rules.
