Alrighty I'm in search of Japanese commercials or news casts online. I know that NHK has a few news stories on their site but was wondering if anyone else had other links. The commercials/news needs to be in Japanese preferably not a song. I"m using it to teach a lesson in a high school class. Thanks..

Japander has a batch of Japanese commercials featuring Western celebrities (most of whom would never do commercial in the West). Perhaps not exactly what you're looking for, but it may be good for a laugh during your lesson.

TBS http://www.tbs.co.jp has regularly updated news and some English translations that may prove helpful.
I assume all the other major commercial broadcasters have their own news sites with videos, too.

My normal stategy when I see a wacko CM of TV is to go to the Japanese company website. ALL big companies in Japan have prominent link to their CMs such as this silly mcdonalds.co.jp one.

I particularly like to use TV news as learning material. My teachers assigned me to watch Japanese news even back when I was in first year classes. You don't absorb much when you're that fresh, but it all adds up over time, news topics reappear and reinforce your vocabulary, etc.

Anyway, I suggest Fuji TV news, they have online streaming with RealPlayer (bleah)

FNN also puts up full text transcripts of most stories, so you can read and follow along, maybe put it through an online translator for a bilingual script, etc.

Yomiuri also has a streaming news system I rather like.

WMP and Real formats only, darn it, why don't more people use QuickTime? They save bandwidth by using a lot of still photos rather than live video, the stills are exceptionally crisp, making it easier to read the kanji subtitling.
