SUBVERT THE COLLECTIVE! Stealth Surfing At Work

Postby Taro Toporific » Wed Sep 29, 2004 9:31 am

Public Service Announcement:
Ok, ok, I know I've said this seven times before on the FG but found a good download site for the now opensource version of Ghostzilla web browser.
Ghostzilla, a masterpiece of stealth web surfing. I've been recommending for more than a year as the solution for moron J-boss thinks he owns the waves and no one else can surf.
Here is a WORKING link to download Ghostzilla:
http://snipurl.com/getghostzilla

Ghostzilla: "So sneaky, you can surf right in front of your boss and he won't suspect a thing."
-- TechTV
Ghostzilla browser for Windows shields you from the looks of people around you, when they try to see if you are surfing the Web.
With Ghostzilla, they see your normal work screen. You see the Web page, drawn to appear inside your work application and to look like that application to a bystander.
If someone comes too close, move the mouse away from the Web page and it disappears, leaving the original application frame. When the coast clears, another mouse move brings Ghostzilla and the Web page back inside your application. http://www.ghostzilla.com

SEE MY EXAMPLE: The top half is me surfing now at work and the bottom half is my Excel timesheet hiding the FG Forum in the "boss/panic button" mode.

Everyone must remember - your IT department can still log your time online and places that you surf on the Internet. Of course you still need a proxy to hide your server log of all the url you have visited. You might get away with it for awhile, but you can get caught don't blame me.

Read the important about using SSL tunnels for about stealth surfing at

Does this only work with Mozilla or can it work with IE as well?

I have downloaded it but am getting a connection failure error message when trying to run it. It may not be able to get "out" past all the security etc.

Let me assume that "this" is about using SSL tunnels for stealth surfing.

If you can't get out it generally means the default port that the SSL tunnel uses is blocked by fiewall of your office's server. I don't use that SSL tunnel software so I can't tell you which is the default port. However, the SSL tunnel software must have an option to specify a different port.

Alternatively, your office may have a security policy lke the ones I've written that block almost all ports and red flags employee use of SSL tunnels...ie., no way Jose.

PS: It works with Mozilla or IE....IE is actually favored in the defaults.
