Ok, so, whats the big deal with typhoons?

sitting here in my dorm, roommate forgot to change his "status tag" from "out" to "in" when he came in and they got all worried and shit. then they brought in their plants. so far, it's like nice weather for a change, a little bit of on and off rain and a nice breeze. not as humid as it has been for the last week either. hope we have a typhoon everyday. i will gladly carry and umbrella or wear a poncho in exchange for a nice breeze and this comfortable level of humidity. news shows pictures of floods and poorly built retention walls falling down (maybe they would work better if they had more drainage?) but im on a hill, so i dont care. yawn.

Big chunks of roofing were flying around my village. Go for a walk out there. It'll wake your ass up or knock your ass out!

went for a walk, its nice. maybe the roofing wouldnt fly around if it wasnt shitty. seriously, i dont understand this... it costs a small fortune to just live here, and everyone lives in shittier housing than you see in china.

True enough, but it's still gonna hurt if it knocks you in the head.

I already said this in another thread but the last one blew a pretty big tree all the way over on top of some powerlines right near my house. I don't give a fuck where you're from that's a powerful fuckin' wind.

Floods, landslides, a dozen dead (so far), many missing...doesn't sound like the weakest ever to me.

DN's bitterness doesn't allow for such rudimentary concepts like geography.

He's our resident whining punk, but tends to grow on you. Just imagine you're dealing with someone eternally constipated and things fall into perspective. Watch; he'll bitch because today is too 'shiny' and there aren't enough particulates in the air.. Just like China.

My guess is that it was that cheapo corrugated plastic roofing material that is "guaranteed to last" until the next typhoon hits. All sorts of that shit was flying around our town too but it was nothing compared to typhoon 16 or 18.

The wind here was not as bad as earlier typhoons but there was A HELL OF A LOT MORE RAIN and I have never seen the rivers as full as they were this morning.

i have come to the opinion that typhoons are a good thing. the weather today was great... light breeze, slightly cool, blue sky with minimal clouds.
