Yomiuri: Sony to ditch copy control CDs (link now dead)
Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. will from next month no longer sell music albums on copy control compact discs, apparently because many customers resent being unable to use them for portable hard disk-based players such as Apple Computer Inc.'s iPod.
...According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan, about 10 percent of new albums in this country are released on copy control CDs. Major music label Avex Inc. last month also began switching from copy control CDs to regular CDs

Ha, ha, with gee I just ripped out my Sony CD changer in my car and tossed it in the sodai-gomi trash. As Mrs. Taro, ex-Sony employee, said, " Honey, we don't need that old 8-track when we got the iPods to plug in."

Sony has got to get the customer-first religion before they are gonna ever get my business again. At least their adapting to MP3 format is a sign of good faith.
