Ring 2 Remake Trailer

Postby Mulboyne » Thu Oct 14, 2004 10:23 am

ComingSoon.net:
DreamWorks Pictures has brought online the teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated sequel, The Ring 2, starring Naomi Watts, written by Ehren Kruger, and directed by Ringu and Ringu 2 helmer Hideo Nakata. The horror thriller will hit screens on March 18, 2005.

I'd like to climb up on my soapbox and say that the
American version (The Ring) was not nearly as scary
and disturbing as Ringu was. And one of the
reasons why is that in Ringu, the characters are
actually scared when the Weird Sh*t (TM) begins to
happen. Ringu also focuses a lot more on atmosphere
and has better photography without adding in CGI trees.
And the video in Ringu is more frightening because
it is simpler.

Just so people don't get their hopes up, it's not so much a trailer as a flash loop. A few scenes are embedded in it, but not much really.

Personally, I'm curious to see what they do with The Ring Two. You could see how the first one was adapted from the original movie, but Two is supposedly not based on any of the sequels or novels...so hopefully it will be enjoyable or at least not suck hard.

I feel kind of bad that I was scared by seeing the Ring first me but I was'nt scared by Ringu(Ring scared the crap out of me). Ringu was a lot creepier though.

YAHOOOO. I was waiting because I expected, but did not know when the part two would come out. Thank you for posting this.

I wasnt able to get the Japanese version here in the states...But I hope to find the copy. I did like the Ring....perhaps it is because that is the one I watched first.

I saw the Grudge and then the original, JuOn. I liked both...but will say the American version's special effects were much better. (Japan has the corner market on Anime, but I believe the americans have the corner on special effects) Yes, I know, the producer was the same person that produced JuOn.

I cannot wait to see Ring 2.

My friend has all three books in that series, but unfortunately I cannot read a lot of Kanji.

I haven't seen the American version of Ring but have heard from many people that it's better than the original. As a matter of fact, I've only heard Asians (I mean people from Asia not Asian Americans) and Japanophiles say it's better. I saw the original and found it a bit boring and not at all scary.

Juon was far creepier but the bad special effects did make me a laugh in a couple of scenes that would've otherwise been scary. I didn't like the Grudge as much but I watched the original a week before so it wasn't really fair to compare.

You don't have to read it in Japanese. The first Ring novel has been translated into english and released in the US. I think they're also going to release the rest in english as well. I know for certain you can find the first two novels, Ring and Spiral on Amazon.com.

Cool. Thanks for the information on the books. I did not know they were translated.....would make sense though, the movies were crossed over to the US

hmm, the j movies were good, albeit lightweight [unless perhaps you read the novels along with that "sister" series, its novels and movies], the dorama was much better imho, tho weird how they repeated it mid afternoon back in '03..
