...in other news today, Godzilla was recognized by the Tokyo City Council today for throwing Mothra into a volcano, again. Introduced by Rodan, Godzilla gave a moving acceptance speech in which he stated, "AAARRRRR. GGGRRRROAAA. (snort) AAAAAAA." Then, he ate governor Isihara and stomped through the homeless camps in west Shinjuju park.

More Godzilla Walk of Fame

The Age: Godzilla turns 50 - Godzilla celebrated his 50th birthday today by breathing fire on Tinseltown, as the Japanese movie monster was awarded his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame..

"Godzilla should thank you for this historical and monumental star,'' Tomiyama said as an actor dressed in a Godzilla costume breathed fire.

"But unfortunately, he cannot speak English,'' Tomiyama told the cheering crowd
Never underestimate the power of very stupid people in large groups.

Godzilla rises for the final time
The 28th and final film about Japanese cinema monster Godzilla is getting its US premiere on Monday.
Final Wars ends a movie franchise which has built up an enormous following since its debut in 1954.

The green lizard, known in Japan as Gojira, is also to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The new film "will compile the fruits of 50 years' work and put an end to the series", Yukihko Mochida of Japan's Todo studio said.

But he may return if a "new generation of directors emerge or a brand new film-making method is found to create a whole new world", he added.
