Iranian reunited with family after 2-year detention on expired visa Kyodo - Friday Oct 22 9:40 PM SGT
An Iranian man was released Friday from an immigration facility in Ushiku, Ibaraki Prefecture, reuniting him with his wife and daughters whom he has not seen for about two years since being detained in 2002 for overstaying his visa.
....Yamanashi Prefecture, granted him a provisional release, which gives him permission to stay in Japan based on certain conditions. Provisional release, however, only allows foreign nationals to remain in the country temporarily, and does not waive deportation orders placed on them...
...Their two daughters were born in Japan....

Japan usually turns a blind eye to factory workers. Could this crackdown be connected a sense of humiliation in losing sumo to foreigner players?
