This story is a little better...
Japanese ex-political heavyweight fined, given two-year jail term?
A once-influential Japanese lawmaker from Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's ruling party was handed a two-year jail term and fined 11 million yen (US$104,000; euro 81,000) Friday on bribery and perjury charges.

Muneo Suzuki, formerly a heavyweight in the most powerful faction of Koizumi's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, was arrested in June 2002.

Tokyo District Court judge Shoichi Yagi found Suzuki guilty Friday on two counts of bribery, one count of hiding political donations and one count of perjury, said court spokesman Hideaki Wada.

The prosecution had demanded up to four years imprisonment.

Prosecutors said Suzuki, 56, accepted bribes of 6 million yen (US$56,000; euro 44,000) from construction company Shimada Kensetsu to help it win several public works projects, and 5 million yen (US$47,000; euro 37,000) from timber company Yamarin in exchange for lobbying for leniency in an illegal logging case.

Let the slimy little bastard rot in jail. I remember him fighting with Makiko Tanaka when she was trying to get the foreign ministry into the 20th centure. I hate this little prick. But I wonder how long he will really spend in jail. He did have cancer after all, which miraculously disappeared as he ran for election last year.

One of my favorite stories about the little bastard was the time on the ferry to Hakodate he went ape-shit and threw a beatin' to some Gaimusho lackey, who later explained his black eye by saying that the boat had encountered rough waters and he had fallen into Muneo's fist!

Another of my Muneo faves was the story in The Weekly Post about how he could be heard screaming from his jail cell.

Didn't Muneo just run in an election? Was he planning to continue serving from the pokey? If he were in an American prison, would he be elected Shower Queen? Would he shiv you if you tried to snatch his cornbread square?

Do you think

Postby canman » Fri Nov 05, 2004 4:57 pm

They will forward all the email he is getting while he is in jail. It would be fun for a group of us to write to him and wish him well in jail. I wonder if he has false teeth, or maybe he will after he comes out. Bitch!

Best be careful, canman, or in a year or two (depending whether Muneo gets credit for time already served), you're going to be at the movies, and a few rows in front of you there'll be this obnoxious little oyaji, smoking a big stogie and laughing uproariously at the flick.

The man who just won't go away quietly...
Suzuki claims he got millions from firm via LDP -- all legit
Japan Times
Convicted former House of Representatives member Muneo Suzuki said Thursday he received millions of yen in the late 1990s from a major company that was diverted through the Liberal Democratic Party.

Suzuki, who has been sentenced to two years in prison for accepting bribes, falsifying a political funds report and perjury, made the remark at a gathering organized by journalists in Tokyo. He refrained from identifying the donor.

The remarks by the once powerful LDP lawmaker contradict what Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi recently told the Diet -- that he had no knowledge that the LDP, which he heads, allowed diverted donations to be sent to its lawmakers by companies or special lobbies, including the Japan Dental Association.

"I received what I call 'designated donations' two or three times before and after I became the Cabinet minister" in charge of Hokkaido and Okinawa issues in 1997, Suzuki told a gathering packed with reporters and opposition camp lawmakers.

Before the Shukan Post dies, let's put up a few final stories...
Former LDP Congressman Reveals Slush Fund of Party
The ruling Liberal Democratic Party has a huge amount of funds for political activities. The fund is called the 'secret fund,' or 'discretionary fund' of the party.

LDP members can withdraw money from the fund by issuing receipts as proof. The LDP secretary general can use the money without limit.

Most of their receipts were not signed by the individuals who really received the money.

Muneo Suzuki, former LDP Parliament member who was arrested for fraud, revealed to The Weekly Post that the LDP Headquarter office created a slush fund and used it for election campaign. It took money from the 'secret fund' without issuing any receipts.

This is what happens when chimpanzees wearing Aoki suits are allowed to enter politics. Chimpanzees always want more bananas than those around them and will steal & murder to obtain the extra fruit.
They should jail him in Ueno zoo and let the public throw him his precious bananas.   8)

When Horie was first arrested, Muneo appeared on one of the ubiquitous J-TV panel discussions detailing what like will be like for him in jail. Apparently, Muneo is the go-to man for the inside scoop on life in the Tokyo cage.

-catoneinutica
-according to the weekies, screams could sometimes be heard coming from Muneo's cell when he spent his year inside

Muneo Suzuki to be paroled soon

Former House of Representatives member Muneo Suzuki will be released on parole possibly next Tuesday after being imprisoned last December following his conviction on bribery and other charges, sources said Wednesday.

The 63-year-old leader of Hokkaido-based New Party Daichi was supposed to be freed next April after 17 months in prison, but a corrections committee under the Justice Ministry endorsed the parole, considering his remorse among other factors, the sources said.

Suzuki, a former deputy chief Cabinet secretary, was sentenced to two years in prison and fined 11 million for accepting the same amount in bribes from two companies in Hokkaido in 1997 and 1998, making a false statement in 1998 in his political funds report and committing perjury during a 2002 Diet session.

Suzuki underwent surgery for esophagus cancer in October 2010 and was imprisoned in December after the Supreme Court rejected his appeal. He subsequently lost his Diet seat and is barred from running for public office for five years after finishing his sentence.

The two-year prison term was shortened to 17 months by subtracting time he had spent in detention during the investigation and trial.

All the Obaaachans and Ojiiisans in the backwoods around Upperovershoe-Machi, Hokkaido, love Muneo-chan. Look for him to be re-elected in five years (or even less) and slip right back into his easy old ways...
