Toshiba 2-year fellowship for EU PhDs

Postby Mulboyne » Fri Nov 05, 2004 8:06 pm

Toshiba is offering two scientists the chance to join its R&D team in Japan.
The annual Fellowship Programme, starting in autumn 2005, is available to PhD-level scientisits from the EU. Successful candidates will be funded for up to two years and will be based at Toshiba's R&D centre in Kawasaki. [intriguingly called "Japan's prosperous Silicon Valley" on the site]

-You must be an EU national
-You must hold a recent PhD, or reliably expected to obtain one by 1st March 2006
-You must have less than 10 years post-doctoral research experience
-You must currently work in a UK academic institution
-Your application will also be accepted if you are an EU national who has recently worked according to the above but are temporarily working in an academic institution outside the UK

For details, visit http://www.toshiba-europe.com/eur/fellowship

The closing date is the 15th December.

This can be good deal if a person has a head-full of great research ideas but no funding.

However after making business calls to Toshiba Kawasaki over the years, I have to say it is not exactly a "campus' atmosphere ... unless the college is from the movie Brazil.
