How do you feel about the Utes getting bumped last week from #6 to #7 in the BCS poll? I think it is bullshit to say the least and they may now have to settle for a bullshit bowl even though they are undefeated. I hope they take out their anger against Wyoming tomorrow.

I still believe that justice will prevail and we'll get a BCS bowl, as long as we remain undefeated. What really chapped my ass is that we were ranked sixth by the BCS and then after spanking Colorado State 63-31 we were dropped out the top six. (For anyone who doesn't know but cares we need to be ranked in the top six of BCS to get into one of the four coveted bowl games). I understand the reluctance of the BCS to put a Mountain West team in there. But we've not only been undefeated we've been totally kicking the shit out of everyone. Look at this record

What the Hell more can we do?

One problem is that any team that gets matched against Utah in a BCS game is if they win (and the won't) then when the rankings come down the votes will reflect that all they did was beat a Mountain West team. The thing is, the Utes were damn good last year. Not like this year this, this we're great, but last year we were damn good and had a solid projection for the following year. My point is, when they were making the schedules last year they should have included at least one top notch team from the Pac-10 or Big 10 in our schedule this year so we would have had the chance to prove ourselves. But, all we can do is continue to win. I hope the players forget about all this shit and just focus on winning. If we win the next two and still don't get a BCS game, well, that would be sad. BYU were the national champs in '83 so maybe there's hope. What really blows is that instead of discussing our chances of being national champs we're discussing our chances just to get a chance to play. All that said that, I'll still don't support moving into a playoff system for NCAA football. The bowl games have too much history.

Sitting between a Fiesta Bowl representative and an Orange Bowl representative in the press box of last weekend's Utah-Colorado State game, I was awestruck.

The reps were clearly unimpressed with our inability to completely fill the stands, and were even more unimpressed with the Utes' kicking game. I was unimpressed with them, so I decided to badger them with questions about the Bowl Championship Series selection criteria

So Rice-Eccles hasn't been packed? Is that right? What the Hell is up with that? And to tell the truth I could understand why the BCS would take that into consideration. It's not a giant stadium and there's so much revenue involved in the big bowl games. Is Utah even interested? Empty seats? Good grief!
