i'd go up against a pitt bull over a snapping turtle anyday. at least the pitt bull has to work before he can bite your arm in two. snapping turtles won't hesitate to bite through your apendages if given the chance.

For real?
Never thought snapping turtles were dangerous. Thought at best they were the size of a dinner plate and people kept them in garden ponds.
When I first read this story I couldn`t help but thinking about the Monty Python movie with the Killer Bunny Rabbit.

I think I like the turtles that are always on the nature shows. The ones that crawl up on the beach at night lay their eggs and then swim across the ocean 2,000 back to where they came from. Then all the Kawaii little baby turtles make their way down to the water after hatching
The evil cousin Snapping Turtle looks too scarry.

Anyone remember that Chuck Berry song "My Ding-A=Ling" where he sings about crossing turtle creek and all the turtles snapping at his Ding-a-ling? Guess he is lucky he is still alive if he really swam the creek.

Its more scary looking than an alligator.

At least you can pin an alligators mouth shut with one hand.

And a pit bull, you let it attack your leg, then reach down and break ITS legs (yank them in opposite directions at the same time. with a bigger dog....RUN....unless you are my size)

Here in New Orleans, the only good snapping turtle is the one in your turtle soup.

Dinner-plate sized snapping turtles are usually considered "adolescents" with adults reaching much larger sizes. (make a large circle with your arms, about that size)

I had a "pet" snapping turtle that lived in my backyard for a while when I was younger. I never got close to him though, not after he snapped a broom handle with ease. I would just bring a bowl of water out to him every so often.
