Japanese Can't Handle Being Fucked In Paris

A strange illness has descended on Japanese living in Paris, tipping many of them in a state of profound culture shock after realising their ideals about the French capital were unrealistic, a study said.

More than a 100 expatriates a year are sinking into a state called "the Paris syndrome" which is characterised by feelings of persecution or suicidal tendencies

"They make fun of my French and my expressions", "they don't like me" and "I feel ridiculous in front of them" are common refrains heard by the doctors.

Mom just give me a Pepsi please
All I want is a Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me.
Just a Pepsi.

I've met Japanese people who have never left Japan, but have copped the above same problems.

The need to forcibly express one's self to be noticed -- seen as vulgar in Japanese society -- and exposure to a humour sometimes seen as offensive adds to the unhappiness.

Actually, IMHO the need to forcibly express yourself is just as important in Japan... if not more important because everyone seems to ignore each other here more than any other country I've been to.

Maybe these people are just having a rude awakening about their own personalities?
I suppose it's a case of "They can take the girl out of Japan, they can't take Japan out of the girl."

Check that. It should be "Mom, just me a Louis Vuitton..."

"Magazines are fuelling fantasies with the Japanese, who think there are models everywhere and the women dress entirely in (Louis) Vuitton," Mario Renoux, the head of a French Japanese Society for Medecine was quoted as saying.

Institutionalized
Sometimes I try to do things and it just doesn't work out the way I wanted
to.
I get real frustrated and I try hard to do it and I take my time and it
doesn't work out the way I wanted to.
It's like I concentrate real hard and it doesn't work out
Everything I do and everything I try never turns out
It's like I need time to figure these things out
But there's always someone there going

Hey Mike:
You know we've been noticing you've been having a lot of problems lately. You
know, maybe you should get away and maybe you should talk about it, maybe
you'll feel a lot better

And I go:
No it's okay, you know I'll figure it out, just leave me alone I'll figure
it out. You know I'll just work by myself.

And they go:
Well you know if you want to talk about it I'll be here you know and you'll
probably feel a lot better if you talk about it.

And I go:
No I don't want to I'm okay, I'll figure it out myself and they just keep
bugging me and they just keep bugging me and it builds up inside and it
builds up inside.

So you're gonna be institutionalized
You'll come out brainwashed with bloodshot eyes
You won't have any say
They'll brainwash you until you see their way.

I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized

They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
to give me the needed professional help
to protect me from the enemy, myself

I was in my room and I was just like staring at the wall thinking about
everything but then again I was thinking about nothing
And then my mom came in and I didn't even know she was there she called my
name and I didn't even hear it, and then she started screaming MIKE! MIKE!
And I go:
What, what's the matter
And she goes:
What's the matter with you?
I go:
There's nothing-wrong mom.
And she goes:
Don't tell me that, you're on drugs!
And I go:
No mom I'm not on drugs I'm okay, I was just thinking you know, why don't
you get me a pepsi.
And she goes:
NO you're on drugs!
I go:
Mom I'm okay, I'm just thinking.
She goes:
No you're not thinking, you're on drugs! Normal people don't act that way!
I go:
Mom just give me a Pepsi please
All I want is a Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one Pepsi, and she wouldn't give it to me.
Just a Pepsi.

They give you a white shirt with long sleeves
Tied around you're back, you're treated like thieves
Drug you up because they're lazy
It's too much work to help a crazy

I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized

They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself

I was sitting in my room and my mom and my dad came in and they pulled up
achair and they sat down, they go:
Mike, we need to talk to you
And I go:
Okay what's the matter
They go:
Me and your mom have been noticing lately that you've been having a lot of
problems, you've been going off for no reason and we're afraid you're gonna
hurt somebody, we're afraid you're gonna hurt yourself.
So we decided that it would be in your interest if we put you somewhere
where you could get the help that you need.
And I go:
Wait, what do you mean, what are you talking about, we decided!? My best
interest?! How can you know what's my best interest is? How can you say what
my best interest is? What are you trying to say, I'm crazy? When I went to
your schools, I went to your churches, I went to your institutional learning
facilities?! So how can you say I'm crazy.

They say they're gonna fix my brain
Alleviate my suffering and my pain
But by the time they fix my head
Mentally I'll be dead

I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized

They stuck me in an institution
Said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help
To protect me from the enemy, myself

What does it matter i'll probably get hit by a car anyway

Actually, I think it's only Parisians that are the problem - perhaps von Choltitz should've followed orders.

... on August 7, [von Choltitz] became the military governor of Paris. He arrived at Paris on August 9. In the following 16 days, he disobeyed several direct orders from Adolf Hitler's to defend the city "to the last man" and to destroy the city. Hitler's order from August 23 said: "The city must not fall into the enemy's hand except lying in complete debris". Most common is Hitler phoning him in a rage, screaming, "Is Paris burning?"

Von Choltitz prevented a complete uprising of the city's inhabitants and direct battles within the city by a mix of active contacts with his enemies, negotiations with the Resistance and demonstrations of power. Therefore, he prevented any larger damages to the famous city... For preventing a second Stalingrad, many regard von Choltitz as "savior of Paris"...

Arguably, leaving us with Paris was a war crime

Paris is an expensive place to die. <--- indeed

French, French, French, didn't we just got a topic about a French FG and his fake squids for a few days ago? I guess it's French weekend. I dunno I'm into French fries now. :P

Seriously I didn't know that Paris could be a place for Japanese to die, that sucks hard to hear.

Often when various Japanese women hear I'm from Manhattan, they ask me, "Is New York City like 'Sex in the City'?"

I immediately know they are F'd.

That people would believe the fantasy of TV is astounding.

New York City is well-known as one of the toughest cities to live in. You're barely scraping by making 6 figures.

The women in that TV show live as if they are making well above 6 figures, which maybe only the lawyer lady could really earn.

Television: turn it OFF already!

I agree.. One of the top live bands I've seen.. I found it interesting that his speeches between the songs were all about self-empowerment and never giving up, but yet the songs were so dark and angry.. I loved the contrast.

It's a good salary anywhere but you can't live large in Manhattan on that the way you can in a lot of other places. But I guess that's true of most the World's major cities.

gkanai,

You should tell them NYC is just like "Friends." Where struggling actors, waitresses, and the unmeployed can afford to live in $5000 a month aparments and the population is 99.9% white.

I used to see Suicidal Tendencies every couple of weeks, they liked to hang around my loft in downtown LA. They were kinda annoying, but they always had hot women hanging around, so they were always welcome.

Not anymore it isn't. I recently discovered my crappy loft was converted into a $250k condo, and was featured in Architectural Digest.
