Rakuten picks 2 foreign players
Kyodo via Japan Today
TOKYO — The Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles are set to announce the acquisition of infielder Damon Minor and left-hander Gary Rath to add to their first-year roster, sources at the Pacific League club said Tuesday.

Left-handed hitter Minor played in 24 games for the San Francisco Giants this year while batting .302 with 17 homers in the minor leagues. Rath, who pitched for the Yomiuri Giants in 2003, went 17-8 for the Doosan Bears in the South Korean league. (Kyodo News)

Minor was given many opportunities with the SF Giants. He just could never push aside JT Snow at 1B.
